Release often
Aim for small, regular releases that are easy to adopt.
Open systems engineering
Chroniton Labs is an open engineering lab building practical ways forward for distributed data and streaming systems.
01 / Why Chroniton
Mature infrastructure earns trust through stability and careful review. Some operators also want to try new fixes and ideas early. Chroniton Labs gives them that choice: a focused place where the work is built, measured, and released.
Our work stays open and compatibility-minded. AxonOps is the steward, and offers support for organisations that need a vendor. The work happens in public, and anyone can take part.
02 / Projects
Distributed database
Built on Apache Cassandra®, adding fixes and features, released on its own schedule.
Streaming platform
A message broker written in Rust that works with Apache Kafka® clients, built for high throughput, low latency, and cloud-native storage.
Developer tool
A fast, portable CQL shell with a rich terminal interface, cqlsh compatibility, and optional AI assistance. Moving to Chroniton Labs soon.
Desktop application
A free, cross-platform desktop environment for Apache Cassandra with CQL development, query tracing, secure connections, and local clusters. Moving to Chroniton Labs soon.

Read the note03 / How we work
Read our principlesAim for small, regular releases that are easy to adopt.
Add regression tests, cover new paths, and test failures as carefully as successful operation.
Use our branches to prove the work, then offer it back to its source Apache project.
